PUDEL

:AUTUMN/WINTER//0708COLLECTION

Borderline02 is the fifth collection from PUDEL and it marks a strong stylistic turnover for a brand, which has been steadily evolving since its launch in 2005. The London-based yet Scandinavian label is the brainchild of Lina Österman –former apprentice for Jens Laugesen and Central Saint Martins graduate. Having shown at Stockholm Fashion Week, CPH Trade Fair Copenhagen, Ideal Berlin and Rendez Vous Paris, Osterman keeps re-working wardrobe basics that can be worn in a casual, more individual way.

While mixing inspiration from the 1990’s grunge culture, Borderline02 collection reveals a line of monochrome garments kept in the shades of black, grey and blue and purple. Designed in response to the success of lightweight knitwear pieces from the previous collection, AW is the new take on the label’s trademark such as the slashed cardigan, short dress and double layer knit top.
The other elements of the collection include: Fitted shirts, denim trousers and t-shirts with prints of already existing garments. All these elements refer to the surrealist notion of a blurred division between reality and dream.

The conceptual and gender-free aesthetics of Pudel have generated a lot of commercial interest among buyers in London, Scandinavia and Japan. Through the extensive use of denim and fine knitwear, Pudel explores the possibilities of androgynous expression in the traditional of Belgian deconstructionism and Scandinavian practical design. The combination of rock’n’roll references with an intelligent use of details claimed a cult following for the upcoming label, which remains particularly strong among the fashion set in Sweden and the UK.
